Uptown Cheapskate and Kid to Kid have partnered with buildOn to fund and build schools in rural communities in developing countries. In August 2019, buildOn completed a new school in the village of Nandagaun, Nepal funded by your donations. 25% of the Nepalese population live below the poverty line and 50% are illiterate. The students of Nandagaun previously learned in six temporary classrooms with nine teachers teaching eight grade levels. The new school will provide the children of Nandagaun with a safe, spacious learning environment and they will no longer have to walk 3 km to get to the next nearest proper school building.
Anusha Chaudhary is 7 years old and in the 3rd grade. Her favorite subject is Nepali and she wants to be a police officer when she grows up. Neither of Anusha's parents had the opportunity to attend school. Through the donations we've collected at our Charity Fill-A-Bag Sales, you've helped break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and expectations for students like Anusha. The students of Nandagaun thank you for your donations!
