GREENVILLE, South Carolina — Lori Wilson, the owner of the Kid to Kid store in Greenville, is pleased to announce the store’s Grand Opening beginning Nov. 15 at 4 p.m. The store is located at 1175 Woods Crossing Road, Suite 7B, near Haywood Mall.

Wilson, who has worked for years in business consulting, is channeling that expertise into her own resale store. “I love the feeling of being able to give back to the community by creating job and helping people save money on their kids’ stuff,” said Wilson. Kid to Kid buys and sells gently used children’s clothing, toys, baby equipment, maternity wear and more. “I’m able to help people earn extra cash for their kids’ outgrown items and donate the items that we can’t sell to a local charity.”

Nov. 15 will be the first day that shoppers in the Greenville area can buy from the Kid to Kid store. The Grand Opening celebrations begin at 4 p.m. and last every day until Nov. 18. Wilson and her staff have activities and giveaways planned for customers, but it’s the incredible inventory that is sure to bring families to the store.

“Our mission is to help families shop smart and save money on high quality kids’ items while maintaining top-notch customer service,” said Wilson. “[The Grand Opening] will be an enjoyable time for both parents and kids.”

MOUNT PLEASANT, South Carolina — Resale shopping is more than a trend; it’s the intersection of retail and affordable fashion. Trendy kids’ resale is now available in Mount Pleasant with Kid to Kid, an exciting new store that will host all interested customers for activities, giveaways, and treasure hunt-style shopping at its Grand Opening on Oct. 25 at 4 p.m.

Located at 3034 South Morgans Point Road near Walmart, this store is 3,800 square feet of all the best shoes, clothes, toys, maternity gear, and baby equipment at up to 70 percent off mall prices.

The Grand Opening celebration has been a long time coming — it’s common practice for Kid to Kid franchise stores to first have an “open to buy” period where members of the public, as well as vendors, can sell used clothes for cash or store credit. The store is now stocked and ready for business.

For owner Jon Charles, who also owns the Uptown Cheapskate resale store in Mount Pleasant, running the store is an exciting adventure. He promises to make the events this weekend worthwhile to interested shoppers as well.

Customers will have the chance to win store credit in special giveaways over the course of the weekend, and on Saturday, Oct. 27 there will be a live DJ from 95 SX as well as a Halloween costume contest in the afternoon.

CHESTER, VA—August 3, 2018—Your back to school shopping just got a lot easier. Another Kid to Kid resale store in the Richmond metropolitan area officially opens for business on Thursday, Aug. 9 at 4:00 p.m. thanks to the tremendous work of the Jenkins family and their employees. The dazzling new store is located at will open on 12232 Bermuda Crossroad Lane, near Home Depot, and just 20 minutes south of downtown Richmond.

The store is owned by parents Gordon and Diana Jenkins, and their daughter Regina Jenkins-Stallings, who also runs the store operations. Regina’s husband Kenny and a handful of employees have been instrumental in getting the store to where it is now, prepared to host a Grand Opening event from August 9-12. During the Grand Opening, customers can shop for new and like-new children’s clothing, toys, maternity gear, and other items at up to 90 percent off retail prices. Customers will also have the chance to win $50 gift cards to the store, as well as other giveaways.

The Chester store is the fourth within a 30-minute drive of Richmond, but it will be a major advantage to customers south of Richmond who want to do less driving and more shopping. These are neighborhoods that Jenkins-Stallings knows well. “The Chester area is a tightknit, family-oriented community,” she said. “It has grown leaps and bounds over the past 10 years and has always been a place that I call home!” She and her staff are looking forward to “providing affordable clothing for the families of the Chester area.”

Jenkins-Stallings intends to take care of each customer that visits her store. “I’ve always enjoyed providing great customer service. I enjoy working with the public and hoping that my service has made their day a little brighter and easier to get through!”

For several weeks, the staff has been open to buy gently used children’s clothes, toys, books, baby gear, and maternity clothing from the public. This practice will continue as a main focus of the business, providing the public with a way to make some money while updating their children’s wardrobes at the same time. Customers have the choice between cash on the spot or store credit for their items.

Kids grow and learn fast. As they do, sell back their stuff to Kid to Kid and find clothing, gear, and toys that are exactly what they need for their next steps. NORTH SALT LAKE, UT—June 15, 2018— In 2015, Uptown Cheapskate and Kid to Kid joined forces with buildOn to raise money to build schools in developing countries. With the support of tens of thousands of customers, the retail franchises have far surpassed initial fundraising goals. This year alone, 56 combined Kid to Kid and Uptown Cheapskate stores raised an estimated $90,699 for buildOn. Participating customers have funded the construction of schools in Mali, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Haiti, Nepal, Malawi, and Nicaragua.

The funds are possible thanks to semi-annual Charity Fill-A-Bag events unique to the retail franchises. “We had this question of what to do with all the items we aren’t able to buy,” explained Shauna Sloan, President of Kid to Kid. “We pay cash to our customers for their best items, but if something has a small issue, we have a really hard time selling it. So we asked our customers if they would be willing to donate the items we couldn’t buy, and many of them jumped on board.”

For a flat donation of $15 per bag, savvy shoppers fill their bags with as many specially-marked items as they can fit, and 100 percent of the donation goes to buildOn. These events are held twice a year, so customers can check with their local store for details on the next sale. To create an ongoing impact, stores also offer customers the option to forgo a plastic bag in exchange for a five-cent donation to buildOn.

The non-profit estimates that there is a student dropping out of high school every 35 seconds. And in many places around the world, students do not even enjoy the opportunity to get to high school.

“We sought an organization that made a lasting, tangible difference, and buildOn does just that,” said Scott Sloan, co-founder of Uptown Cheapskate. “Community members recycle items they no longer need, our franchise locations convert that donation to cash through our Charity Fill-A-Bag event, and buildOn uses that money to transform under-served communities by providing lasting education opportunities for their children.”

MECHANICSVILLE, VA—Alicia and Armando Bojorquez have worked tirelessly with their team to open the doors of their first Kid to Kid store on Thursday, June 21. The Grand Opening celebrations will begin Thursday at 4 p.m. and conclude the evening of Sunday, June 24, after which the Mechanicsville store will be open for business as usual. On each day of the Grand Opening weekend, the Bojorquez family will even raffle off four $50 gift cards, one per day.

When asked what she loves most about owning a Kid to Kid store, Alicia mentioned, “The interaction with customers—seeing the customers’ excitement when they get cash for items that their kids have outgrown, and when they find awesome items at a fraction of the retail price.”

No doubt customers in her area of Mechanicsville will similarly embrace the excitement of this unique shopping experience. Located at 7230 Bell Creek Road, this Kid to Kid franchise serves several large communities on the northeast side of Richmond.

For a few weeks, the store has been open for members of the public to sell their gently used children’s apparel, toys, books, baby gear, and maternity clothing. Customers can receive cash or store credit on the spot.

During the Grand Opening, customers can shop for the first time for new and like-new children’s clothing and items at up to 90 percent off retail prices. Alicia is sure that customers will take to the Kid to Kid concept just as she did, “I regret not visiting a Kid to Kid when my daughter was little. I found out about the store when she was three years old. I fell in love with the concept and how easy it was to sell and get cash or store credit to buy items my daughter needed.”

As your kids grow and learn, sell back their stuff to Kid to Kid and find kids’ clothing, gear, and toys that are exactly what they need for their next step. With Kid to Kid, it’s simple and easy.

KENTWOOD, MI — Amanda and Patrick Funnell have worked tirelessly with their team to open the doors of just the second Kid to Kid store in the Midwest.

The store is located at 3110 28th St. SE in Kentwood, about eight miles from downtown Grand Rapids. “We are excited to be in the Kentwood and Grand Rapids community,” said Amanda. “Raising children isn’t cheap and we are here to help with that.”

“I fell in love with Kid to Kid back in 2012 when we were living in Denver, Colorado,” remembers Amanda. “I loved finding great deals and shopping in an environment that felt more like a retail store than a resale store.”

Several large communities in the area will also embrace this shopping experience, as the next closest Kid to Kid is some 170 miles away in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

On June 7, 2018, the Kentwood location hosted a weekend-long Grand Opening event. Customers lined up early to get inside on that first day, hoping for a chance to win a free reusable bag, free clothes for a year, and tickets to a Detroit Tigers game.

The store has been stocking up for weeks, buying gently-used clothing from the local community. Amanda has been amazed by the wonderful response from the community and appreciates all who have come to the store. “My favorite question from people coming in to check us out is ‘Is this all new or used?’ People can’t believe that a used store can be so bright and organized.”

Kid to Kid stores offer a variety of name brand children’s clothing, toys, maternity, and accessories up to 90 percent off the price of original retail price. Kid to Kid in Kentwood also continues to pay community members for gently-used apparel and items in cash or offer 20 percent more for in-store credit.
